A luxurious home in the heart of the exclusive village of Hinterthal
Luxury and comfort combine with nature and breath-taking views of the surrounding mountains and ski runs.
This is one of the valley's most impressive homes which has been open to guests since it was built in 2007 and extended with an additional floor in 2018 and new kitchen and dining area in 2024. Part of the exclusive ClubHotel Hinterthal, the Chalet on the Lake is conveniently located in the centre of the village, close to restaurants and bars, but discreetly tucked away in a quiet location as part of a private estate beside its own lake.
The house has been built to the highest standards, combining local craft with modern luxury. The exterior of the house is a traditional combination of local stone and larch-wood. Inside is a haven of spacious, modern luxury: underfloor heating; large open log fires; oak floors, oak-clad walls and ceilings; hand-built fitted oak and pine furniture; modern fitted bathrooms and kitchen. Furnishings also combine traditional antiques with modern features: silk rugs, deep sofas, high end multi-room audio, heating controls and internet access in each room.
Hinterthal is an exclusive village at the end of the valley with rocky peaks to the east and north and ski slopes to the south and west. For the skiing holiday, this area offers some of the most reliable snowfall in the Alps, 150km of pistes for all levels of experience and plenty of safe off-piste skiing when the new snow falls.
After the snow has left the mountains, Hinterthal is a wonderful place for an active and healthy holiday. You will not find better walking, hiking, climbing, overnight stays in mountain top huts, tennis, golf, white water rafting and cycling than is available either from the door or in the immediate area.
Sleeping up to 14 with 420m² of internal living space the house combines open plan living with plenty of independent spaces, so it can accommodate large groups while giving privacy to both parents and their children.
The house is built over three floors. The front door opens to the entrance hall or a side-door leads to the ski room with heated boot rack and separate WC. Off the entrance hall is a cosy corner bench and table area used either for separate dining or for games. The hallway then leads to a grand open plan living-kitchen-dining room with its enormous vaulted ceiling, long farmhouse dining table, fully fitted high-end kitchen, deep sofas, open fireplace and grand piano. This room overlooks the lake and the ski slopes beyond with views down the valley. Full width glass doors open to an extra deep balcony with a further dining table, chairs and sun lounger.
Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with en-suite bath/shower room and a bunk bedroom with 4 bunks (designed for children but large enough for adults) and a TV/DVD player.
The first floor has a twin bedroom, an extra large shower room and a study which has a table, computer and a shelves stocked with books and DVD collections. Both these rooms have spectacular views over the high peaks to the north.
Downstairs, there is a further living room with large sofa, rocking chairs for post-sauna relaxation, floor mats for pilates or stretching DVDs and a large 65" media screen with Netflix and DVD collection. This room opens through double glass doors to the terrace and the sun deck built over the lake. Also on this floor is the large family-sized sauna with shower room, a twin bedroom and two further double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. All the bedrooms are decorated with warm oak wood walls and ceilings. There is outdoor furniture on the lake level and on the balcony for relaxing or dining. There is a separate laundry room, also for guest use.
For an energetic ski or hiking holiday or for relaxing in harmony with nature's most beautiful surroundings it is hard to beat the luxury of this Chalet on the Lake.
